HimalaSalt Himalayan Salt Plates & Slabs
While the Himalayan salt plates, slabs, bricks, cubes, and bowls are a true wonder of natural beauty, what do you do with them? Find out how to cook with them, chill them for serving, and importantly, how to take care of them so they last a long time.....
Artisan Himalayan Salt Plates
Our natural salt plates are artisan-crafted from ethically sourced primordial ocean deposits that have been protected in the remote, pristine Himalayan Mountains for 250 million years. Perfect chilled for serving sushi, salads, appetizers, fruits, and heated in the oven or on a direct gas flame for cooking vegetables and thinly sliced meats, fish, poultry, searing prawns and seafood, grilling kabobs, and for gourmet desserts that call for just a hint of good salt.
The clean, light, delicate mineral-rich flavor enhances foods you cook or serve, yet does not over salt flavors. Cared for properly, your salt plate will provide years of healthy enjoyment.
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS Plates can be chilled in the freezer for beautiful presentations of desserts, ice cream, fruit and cheese platters, sashimi, carpaccio, crudites, and more, or heated on the gas stovetop, barbeque, or in the oven with near perfect heat distribution. Since it is a natural product, heating the plates may change the appearance, bringing out natural inclusions. If you find you have a favorite, you may want to keep it for serving, and use one just for cooking.
Heating on Electric Stove: use a flame tamer to raise the salt plate above the burner.
Heating on Gas Range/Grill: Heat on a low flame until warm, gradually increasing to medium, then high until desired temperature is reached, generally around 15-20 minutes.
For Oven: heat at 250 degrees for first 10-12 minutes, then increase to 400F. Note: Certain foods can discolor your salt plate but do not change its ability to cook great food.
CARE AND STORAGE: After use, let cool completely to room temperature. TO WASH: Rinse lightly, quickly, and scrub vigorously with a steel wool scrubby. Rinse again quickly. DO NOT USE SOAP. DO NOT PLACE IN DISHWASHER. DO NOT SUBMERGE IN WATER. Dry with a clean cloth and allow to further air dry. Store in location with low humidity. Do not store on metal, copper, or bronze surfaces. Himalayan salt does not require the use of any cleanser as it is naturally antimicrobial.
Note that our Himalayan Salt Plates are natural, artisan-carved products and each one is unique in characteristics, including color, inclusions, and slight size variations. Each piece may also have a different threshold for pressure and temperature. Sustainable Sourcing, makers of HimalaSalt, is not responsible for damages, injury, or loss due to any use of our Himalayan salt products.
